Unspeakable

Hi!

I am Jimmel Avelino. I know, my name sounds like I'm a guy, but hey, I'm female. My friends call me Jim or Jimmie. My sister, though, call me Menggay or Meh, specially when she's trying to be a little sweet. I'm born Filipino and a certified Tondo girl.

"Tundo man ay langit din." Living in this kind of place is a gift and a curse at the same time.

It's a gift because it gives me a glimpse of reality...that life isn't always fair and that life is a constant struggle. It taught me to work hard for everything that I want for myself. It taught me to live simply. It taught me that happiness is a choice.

It's also a curse since the place isn't pleasing to the eyes, sometimes not even pleasing to your nose.

I grew up in a well to do family, enough to make a living, enough to enjoy a little of everything. I feel fortunate that I have such a wonderful family.

Some people see me as snob. But, I must tell, I can be friendly. I consider myself as a good friend. Maybe a few can attest to that.

I am a happy person. But when I'm sad or angry, it shows.

I think I am also a sweet person. It's just that I'm not "showy" or expressive.

I'm not religious but I love God.

I'm not a good writer although when I was a kid, I dreamed to be a Journalist. It was then my ultimate dream to become someone like Philippines' Jessica Soho.

After high school at Santa Isabel College, Manila (Colegio de Santa Isabel), one of the country's oldest educational institutions and formerly an all-girls school, I realized that Journalism isn't really my thing. So I entered college at University of the Philippines, Diliman and took Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering.

Metallurgical Engineering? Google it! To simply put, as metallurgists, it's our job to extract metals from mined ores, process them and make it in to something useful.

I see myself as a successful engineer in 5 years!

I dream big and I work hard.

My self description is as random as me.
